Assignment Details

Our client, IT and cybersecurity organization that manages critical systems and strengthens digital resilience for the central banking ecosystem, is looking for a Compliance Expert with a strong understanding of workforce classification, related pay norms and benefits, statutory committees and mandates, and associated compliance and audit requirements for organizations, employees, and contractors. The role involves strengthening compliance frameworks and enabling effective implementation by internal teams.
 

The Compliance SME will be embedded within the HR Product Development team to ensure that all HRMS modules (Hire-to-Retire lifecycle) are designed with statutory, regulatory, and governance controls built into system architecture.
The role will partner closely with the BA team during requirement discovery, design workshops, configuration validation, and UAT to ensure compliance-by-design and audit defensibility.


This is a functional governance design role, not an operational compliance tracking role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Compliance-by-Design in HR Product Architecture
       • Interpret labor laws, regulatory frameworks, and statutory obligations.
       • Translate compliance requirements into:
       • Workflow approvals
       • Maker-checker controls
       • Segregation of duties
       • Escalation triggers
       • Compliance dashboards
       • Audit trails
       • Ensure system configuration supports digital statutory registers.
  2. Requirement Workshops 
    Participate in HRMS discovery workshops.
       • Ask structured compliance-focused questions covering:
       • Shops & Establishment compliance
       • Labor Code applicability
       • Contract labor compliance
       • Working hours & overtime control
       • POSH workflow management
       • Data protection & consent capture
       • Record retention policies
       • Identify compliance risks in undocumented practices.
       • Ensure statutory nuances are captured in BRD/FSD.
    Key expectation: Detect risks before build stage.
  3. Governance Framework & Audit Readiness
       • Embed maker-checker and SoD (Segregation of Duties) controls
       • Define compliance monitoring dashboards
       • Ensure digital audit trail integrity
       • Support readiness for:
           ◦ Internal Audit
           ◦ Statutory Audit
           ◦ Regulatory inspections
           ◦ Internal / Concurrent  audit (as applicable)
  4.  Implementation & UAT Validation
       • Define compliance test cases
       • Validate statutory workflow functionality during UAT
       • Verify regulatory reporting outputs
       • Sign off on compliance readiness prior to go-live
  5. Cross-Functional Alignment
    Collaborate closely with:
       • BA Team – Requirement gathering 
       • HR SME – Policy alignment
       • Payroll & Tax SMEs – Statutory integration
       • Legal Team – Regulatory interpretation
       • Product/Tech – System configuration
    Act as the Compliance Authority within the HR Product Team.

Duration: 3 months (Extendable depending on performance)

Location: Mumbai (Navi Mumbai/BKC)

Skills Required

  • 8–12 years of experience in HR Compliance / Labor Law / Governance.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Labor Codes
  • Shops & Establishment Act
  • PF / ESIC / Bonus / Gratuity
  • Contract Labor Act
  • POSH Act
  • Data Protection (DPDP Act exposure preferred)
  • Experience in HRMS implementation or digital transformation initiatives preferred.
  • Experience in regulated / PSU / BFSI environment strongly preferred.
