Role Overview:
The Supply Chain Planner – JIT Packaging Parts is responsible for end-to-end planning and execution of Just-In-Time (JIT) packaging materials to ensure uninterrupted production with zero line stoppage, optimal inventory, and high supplier performance. The role focuses on precise demand planning, supplier coordination, and daily execution in a high-frequency, short lead-time
environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. JIT Planning & Execution
Plan and manage daily/weekly JIT schedules for packaging parts based on production requirements.
Ensure on-time availability of packaging materials to support uninterrupted manufacturing.
Translate production plans into call-offs / delivery schedules for suppliers.
Monitor and manage line-side inventory, supermarket levels, and consumption patterns.
2. Supplier Coordination & Management
Work closely with packaging suppliers to ensure:
o Adherence to JIT delivery windows
o Accurate quantities and sequencing
o Compliance to quality and packaging standards
Resolve delivery shortages, delays, or excess proactively.
Drive supplier performance improvements (OTIF, responsiveness, flexibility).
3. Inventory & Capacity Control
Maintain optimal inventory levels in line with JIT and lean principles.
Track and control safety stock, Kanban loops, and minimum/maximum levels.
Support capacity alignment discussions with suppliers during demand changes or ramp-ups.
4. Production & Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as the primary interface between Production, Logistics, Procurement, and Suppliers for packaging materials.
Support engineering changes, packaging design changes, and new product launches.
Participate in daily/weekly operational reviews and shortage management calls.
5. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
Identify and mitigate risks related to supply continuity, forecast volatility, and logistics constraints.
Drive root-cause analysis for line stoppages or material shortages.
Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, JIT, Kanban, and inventory optimization.
6. Systems & Reporting
Manage planning activities through ERP/MRP systems (SAP / Oracle / similar).
Monitor and report KPIs such as:
o Line stoppages
o Inventory turns
o OTIF
o Schedule adherence
Maintain accurate master data related to packaging parts.

Skills Required:
Technical / Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of JIT supply chains, especially for packaging materials
- Understanding of lean manufacturing, Kanban, supermarket concepts
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably oracle) and planning tools
- Data analysis and reporting skills (Excel, dashboards)
Behavioral & Soft Skills
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure production environment
- Proactive problem-solving and decision-making mindset
- Clear communication with suppliers and internal teams
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
- MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain (preferred)
Experience Requirements
- 3–7 years of experience in supply chain / materials planning
- Hands-on experience with JIT parts, preferably packaging materials
- Manufacturing or automotive / electronics / FMCG plant exposure preferred
