Assignment Details

Our client, a Leading Management Consulting Firm is looking to engage with a senior industry expert with extensive experience in Micro LAP lending and P&L leadership within NBFCs or banks.

 

  • Lead and manage the Micro LAP business, with full P&L ownership, driving growth, profitability, and portfolio quality across sales, credit, operations, and collections.
  • Design and structure the Micro LAP product, including ticket size, LTV norms, pricing, and customer segmentation, with a strong focus on SME and self-employed borrower segments.
  • Build and scale the Micro LAP portfolio, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 markets, targeting customers with informal income profiles.
  • Develop and implement distribution strategy, with a strong focus on open-market and direct sourcing channels, and expanding branch-led or in-house sales networks.
  • Establish and strengthen credit policies, underwriting frameworks, and risk controls to ensure sustainable growth while maintaining portfolio quality.
  • Drive end-to-end business development and transformation, including product launch, distribution expansion, process optimization, and cross-functional alignment across sales, credit, operations, and collections.

Skills Required

  • Deep expertise in Micro LAP / secured lending, including strong understanding of ticket size structuring, LTV frameworks, and lending to SME and self-employed customer segments.
  • Strong P&L management and business leadership capabilities, with the ability to drive growth, profitability, and portfolio quality in a lending business.
  • Proven experience in building and scaling lending portfolios, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 markets and among customers with informal income profiles.
  • Strong product and credit structuring skills, including development of credit policies, underwriting frameworks, and risk management practices.
  • Expertise in developing and scaling distribution networks, especially open-market and direct sourcing channels (non-DSA).
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management, with the ability to align sales, credit, operations, and collections to drive business outcomes.
