Our client a top tier management consulting firm is looking to engage with a Consultant.
Context: Support the development and deployment of the Promotions Accelerator product. The product focuses on enabling consulting teams and retail clients to generate insights by analyzing historical promotions, and leverage predictive models to optimize future promotional effectiveness. The contractor will work with a Senior Product Manager who is also staffed to the product.
Contractor role: Data-focused Product Manager
o The contractor will act as a Data-focused Product Manager for Promotions Accelerator, with a focus on data-intensive features and analytics workflows. The role sits at the intersection of product, data, and engineering, requiring strong comfort with quantitative data, data models, and analytical use cases.
· Key responsibilities include:
o Own specific product features end-to-end, from problem definition and scoping through to delivery and iteration (e.g. base price module, visualizations for cannibalization and pull-forward effects).
o Gather and synthesize insights from user research, client feedback, and data analysis to inform product decisions
o Support scoping and prioritization of product features and translate user and client needs into clear product requirements, including UI components, calculations, data structures, and data flows
o Act as the scrum product owner, writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for engineering teams
o Partner closely with engineering throughout the development cycle, supporting planning, backlog management, and delivery
o Communicate product plans, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders
o Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and trade-offs
o Validate data quality and analytical outputs, with a focus on working with model outputs and ensuring they are usable and meaningful for end users
· Contract duration: 6+ months, extendable based on project needs and client pipeline
· Expected time commitment: Full-time or minimum 80 percent, aligned with delivery timelines
Must have:
· 5+ years of experience as a product manager, product owner, business analyst, or in a similar role
· Proven ability to translate user and business needs into structured requirements, particularly for data and analytics features
· Strong comfort working with quantitative data, including hands-on experience with data querying and analysis tools (e.g. SQL, Python, or similar), and development tools like Jira
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders
· Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments (e.g. consulting, start-ups)
· Experience working in agile product development environments (e.g. Scrum), including collaboration with engineering teams
· Fluent in English
Nice to have:
· Experience in pricing and promotions analytics or related domains
· Familiarity with modern product development approaches such as rapid prototyping, using genAI tools to quickly explore and validate ideas
