Assignment Details

Our client, a global leader in Energy Management and Automation, is looking to onboard a Procurement Freelancer with experience in machine building / engineering environments to support purchasing and supplier management activities.


Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Purchasing Activities
Manage end-to-end purchasing of materials, services, and logistics for machine building projects at MDC India.
Obtain timely quotations for anticipated materials and services to support project cost estimations.
Procure parts required for machine development with optimal quality, cost, and lead time.
Formalize service contracts with partners for surface treatment, wiring, drafting, and related services.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Technical Teams to proactively plan material and service requirements.
Establish dual sourcing and backup plans for critical items.
Drive suppliers (with support from PM/technical teams) to ensure on-time delivery of materials and services.
Manage transportation and logistics in line with agreed project terms.
Inventory & Warehouse Management
Maintain optimal inventory levels for standard parts, balancing cost and lead time.
Ensure proper setup and effective utilization of the warehouse.
Supplier Management & Continuous Improvement
Identify and onboard suitable suppliers and partners to enhance quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance.
Conduct supplier audits in collaboration with the Technical Team to improve quality and standardization.
Benchmark externally and engage in industry forums to identify new suppliers and best practices.
Collaborate with other purchasing teams within the organization to negotiate improved commercial terms.
Coordinate with other MDCs to optimize stocking of critical parts for shared utilization.

Skills Required

Education: Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Procurement or Machine Design function.
Experience working with SAP systems.
Strong experience in negotiation, contract preparation, and inventory management.
Knowledge of common materials and services required for machine development.
Ability to manage and balance budgets to meet committed Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets.
Good command of English and proficiency in Windows/MS Office environment.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
