Our Client, a Leading Global Specialist in Energy Management and Automation is looking for a Procurement Specialist – Machine Development Centre (MDC)


Machine Development Centre (MDC) India is part of a strategic initiative to build capabilities in India to deliver critical, complex test benches and machines to Schneider Electric India plants, supporting their high growth ambitions. The centre works on state-of-the-art technology machines, fostering innovation and contributing to the company’s growth story. We are recruiting for this centre across key domains to be part of this exciting journey.

 

Mission:
Responsible for all purchasing activities—materials, services, and logistics—for machine-building activities at MDC India. Key responsibilities include:

Manage inventory levels for standard parts, balancing cost and lead time.

Identify new suppliers and partners to improve quality, cost, and delivery of parts and services.

Ensure proper setup and efficient usage of the warehouse.

 

Purchase Activity:

Obtain quotations for anticipated materials and services to support project managers in providing accurate machine quotes.

Procure all parts needed for machine development with the right quality, optimized cost, and shortest lead time.

Formalize service contracts with partners for surface treatment, wiring, drafting, and related needs.

Collaborate closely with project managers and technical teams to plan material and service requirements well in advance.

Implement dual sourcing and backup plans for critical items.

Drive suppliers to deliver materials and services on time with support from project managers and technical teams.

Manage transportation and logistics according to agreed project conditions.

 

Continuous Improvement:

Conduct regular supplier audits with the technical team to improve quality and establish standards.

Monitor external benchmarks and industry forums to identify new suppliers and improve quality, cost, and delivery.

Collaborate with other purchasing teams to secure better deals.

Work with other MDCs to stock critical parts for timely usage.

Skills Required

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation engineering.
  • Procurement & Machine Design Experience: Minimum 3 years in procurement function or machine design activities, including supplier evaluation and contract negotiation.
  • SAP & Inventory Management: Experience using SAP systems for procurement, inventory tracking, and warehouse management.
  • Purchase & Contract Management: Strong skills in negotiation, contract preparation, and managing purchase activities, sourcing strategies for timely project delivery.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with common materials and services needed for machine development.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Ability to manage and balance budgets to meet committed quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Communication & IT Skills: Good English communication skills, Windows environment proficiency, and strong negotiation abilities.
