Assignment Details

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Support the Foundation’s leadership in translating strategic priorities into concrete, time-bound initiatives and projects.
  • Lead 2–3 strategic initiatives annually, covering problem definition, opportunity assessment, stakeholder engagement, action planning and implementation.
  • Conduct strategic analysis and research to identify development challenges, intervention pathways, emerging opportunities and potential investments.
  • Develop strategy notes, decision briefs, project plans, stakeholder maps and progress reports for senior leadership.
  • Facilitate cross-country and South-South learning, particularly between India, Africa and other priority geographies.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to adapt Indian policy, institutional, digital and implementation models to relevant challenges in other LMICs.
  • Build and manage relationships with government ministries, multilateral institutions, research organizations, development partners and private-sector stakeholders.
  • Support national and sub-national government engagement on selected high-priority projects across areas such as livelihoods, skills, technology, health and public-sector delivery.
  • Design and coordinate knowledge exchanges, workshops and institutional partnerships that translate implementation experience into practical learnings.
  • Develop knowledge products, including case studies, policy notes, playbooks, toolkits and implementation frameworks.
  • Track South-South partnerships from initial engagement through adaptation, technical collaboration and implementation.
  • Coordinate across Foundation teams and external stakeholders to ensure clear milestones, accountabilities, outcomes and follow-through.
  • Synthesize lessons from strategic initiatives and partnerships to inform the Foundation’s broader strategy and investments.

Skills Required

 

  • Strategy & Problem Solving: Strong ability to analyze complex development challenges, identify intervention pathways and translate strategic priorities into actionable initiatives.
  • Project & Program Management: Experience managing multi-stakeholder projects with clear objectives, milestones, timelines and outcomes.
  • Government & Public Sector Engagement: Strong understanding of government institutions, policy processes and public-sector delivery, with experience engaging senior government stakeholders.
  • Development Sector Expertise: Exposure to areas such as livelihoods, skills, healthcare, technology, economic opportunity and public-sector delivery.
  • Partnership Development: Ability to build and manage relationships with governments, multilaterals, development organizations, research institutions and private-sector partners.
  • Cross-Country / South-South Collaboration: Experience working across geographies, particularly India, Africa and other emerging markets, and translating learnings across contexts.
  • Research & Analytical Skills: Strong research, synthesis and data interpretation capabilities to develop strategic recommendations and decision insights.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders and drive alignment across Foundation teams and external partners.
  • Communication & Knowledge Development: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to develop strategy notes, policy briefs, case studies, playbooks and presentations.
  • Execution Orientation: Strong ability to move initiatives from strategy and concept through partnerships, implementation and measurable outcomes.
  • Consulting / Advisory Experience: Experience in management consulting, public policy, international development or strategic advisory would be highly relevant.
  • Leadership & Ownership: Demonstrated ability to independently own strategic workstreams while working effectively with senior leadership.
