Our client, a Family Office evaluating a strategic investment in the medical consumable and molecular diagnostics sector is seeking to engage a Senior Technical & Commercial Due Diligence Expert – Pharma (Consumables) & Molecular Diagnostic (Consultant)on a consultancy basis who will lead technical, commercial and operational due diligence for a potential investment in a company manufacturing vacuum blood collection tubes, insulin syringes and pen needles, and molecular diagnostics. This is a high-impact role requiring a seasoned professional with a strong technical, commercial and financial understanding of the consumables segment within the pharmaceutical disposals & molecular diagnostic.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the end-to-end technical & commercial due diligence process including product
quality, regulatory compliance, manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and R&D
capabilities.
• Evaluate the company’s technology, infrastructure, scalability, and cost structures.
• Able to access, evaluate and understand domestic market & export market.
• Assess regulatory approvals (e.g., CDSCO, USFDA, CE) and quality assurance practices.
• Analyze product pipeline strength and benchmark against competitors in India and globally.
• Review supply chain, procurement, and raw material dependencies, especially for high-
volume disposable products.
• Validate manufacturing efficiency, yield, and adherence to global best practices (e.g., GMP,
ISO 13485).
• Collaborate with internal and external financial advisors to link operational risks to financial
forecasts.
• Prepare a detailed technical DD report highlighting red flags, mitigants, and strategic
opportunities.
• Support deal structuring with sector insights and technology-based risk assessment.
Duration- 1 month (FT) or 2 months (PT)
Capacity- Full time
Location- Mumbai (preferred), but open to remote arrangements. The role will require travel to Chennai for factory visit.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in pharmaceuticals / medical devices, especially on the
consumables and molecular diagnostics side.
• Must have worked with or advised top 10 pharmaceutical or medical device companies in
India (e.g., Abbott, Becton Dickinson, Biocon, Cipla, Sanofi, etc.).
• Strong understanding of vacuum blood collection tubes, insulin syringes / pen needles, and
molecular diagnostics instruments and kits.
• Previous experience in technical & commercial due diligence for private equity, venture
capital, or strategic M&A transactions is mandatory.
• Proven ability to assess technology, manufacturing operations, and product-market fit from
an investor’s lens.
• Should possess working knowledge of financial models, CAPEX planning, unit economics,
and valuation sensitivities related to technical operations.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree in Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering, or Life Sciences; advanced degrees (M.Pharm, M.Tech, Ph.D.) preferred.
• MBA in Finance or exposure to investment / M&A environment is a plus.
• Networked with regulatory consultants, quality assurance professionals, or industry
experts in medical devices and diagnostics.
