Our client, an American Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Horticulture Consultant to support our horticulture-focused initiatives and provide technical expertise across planning, implementation, and value-chain strengthening.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in horticulture planning, post-harvest management, and/or value chain development, with the ability to offer strategic insights and practical solutions to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead horticulture project planning, including crop selection, resource assessment, and development of implementation frameworks.
Provide technical guidance on improved cultivation practices, productivity enhancements, and sustainable farming methods.
Develop and optimize post-harvest management processes, including storage, packaging, transportation, and quality control measures.
Support the design and strengthening of horticulture value chains, ensuring market linkages, supply chain efficiency, and producer-level capacity building.
Conduct field assessments, stakeholder consultations, and data-driven analysis for programme evaluations and recommendations.
Prepare technical reports, project documents, training modules, and knowledge resources.
Collaborate with government bodies, farmers, FPOs, private sector partners, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks, and propose corrective measures to achieve desired outcomes.
Strong understanding of horticulture systems, crop science, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Expertise in post-harvest technology and value chain enhancement.
Strong analytical, documentation, and project management skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
