Assignment Details

Job role:
The Reading Host role is that of a partner and not an employee
The Reading Host shall implement a reading gym at home for neighbourhood children (ages 3 and upwards)

Job description:
Assist in registering students for reading sessions
Conduct My Chapter One reading programs to registered students (program and books will be provided)
Read with children and help them become independent readers
Engage in activities with children (arts, crafts, quizzes, projects) to promote immersive reading
Engage with parents to communicate session progress
Circulate marketing material to expand program reach (material will be provided)
Participate in regular meetings with My Chapter One and other Reading Hosts to stay updated about program features

Skills Required

A mother/woman with a good network of parents
Enterprising, passionate, well-spoken
Love for English, books and children
Interest in entrepreneurship

About the Client

My Chapter One was founded in 2020 with the ambitious vision of creating a world of little readers. Ranjani Indrajith and Madhumathi Narayanan, both mavericks in the social and educational sector knew they had their work cut out for them when they continued to encounter an audience of children who were increasingly dispassionate towards reading. With over two decades of experience of drawing children towards books, they launched My Chapter One, a network of reading gyms spread out throughout Chennai, hosted by passionate, well-read women who would inspire children to give reading a try.
