Our client, a leading global FMCG organization, is looking to engage with a Macro Economics Researcher for a 6 months project.
I. Project Overview:
Partner the business and consumer insights functions to help build a lead indicator model of consumer incomes and consumption pattern / spends at a state x Urban / Rural level basis various macro-economic variables.
II. Expected Business Impact:
Detailed understanding of how macro-economic scenario at state level impacts consumer incomes, quantification of impact, consumer spending patterns, understanding the velocity of change in trends and thereby forecasting FMCG growth at State X Urban / Rural level and planning interventions to maximize growth.
III. Key Deliverables:
Weekly / Bi-weekly governance review, undertaking detailed research to establish correlation between macroeconomic variables and consumer incomes, macroeconomic variables and consumer spending patterns and build a lead indicator model which can predict FMCG growth (At a state X U/R X Category level).

- Understanding and predicting consumer incomes and spend patterns which are a function of overall macro-economic backdrop is key to plan interventions in terms of price, incentives, schemes etc to maximize growth;
- As the partner to the finance function, we will hold governance on cost and compliance as per the principles set out while maintaining the financial growth model to drive the business objectives;
Note: This is a 6 months project (extendable for another 6 months basis need) with preference to full time capacity based out of Mumbai.
- Economics graduate or post graduate from a top tier college;
- Prior experience in Undertaking research to establish correlation between various indicators and their implication;
- Prior experience in Building lead indicator / predictor models;
- Prior experience Working on core economic to consumer research would be an added advantage;
- Experience of working as an equity research analyst or macro analyst would be an added advantage;
- Detailed understanding of macro economics, micro economics, applied economics, experience of working in FMCG industry, economics research, modeling;
- Prior experience with MS Office Suite- Excel, PPT, Power BI
