Our client, a global professional services firm is looking for a Lead Structural Design & Value Engineering Expert (Transmission Towers).
Objective
Conduct an expert, independent review of transmission tower designs and identify practical, quantified value engineering opportunities. The goal is to optimize tower structures, material utilization, and fabrication methods—achieving cost savings and improved project timelines while ensuring full compliance with industry standards and reliability requirements.
Scope & Activities
1. Review client’s current technical drawings, specifications, and tower models for all relevant voltage levels and tower types.
2. Benchmark designs against current industry best practices in India.
3. Identify inefficiencies or over-specification:
- Excess steel/material usage
- Suboptimal bracing/cross-section design
- Non-standard or costly fabrication methods
4. Develop a quantified value engineering report:
- Recommend alternate tower profiles/configurations
- Propose material substitutions or high-strength steel options
- Suggest modularization or pre-fabrication to expedite construction and reduce cost
- Highlight sustainability opportunities (eco-friendly coatings, minimized land usage, durability enhancements)
5. Prepare actionable design optimization initiatives with technical rationale, implementation feasibility, and estimated savings for each lever.
6. Collaborate with client teams through workshops and feedback sessions to refine and align recommendations for practical execution.

- As-Is Design Review & Diagnostic Note: Clear identification of cost and performance improvement opportunities backed by technical justification.
- To-Be Value Engineering Pack: Should-cost redesign options, recommended tower profiles, material alternatives, and quantified savings.
- Optimization Playbook: Consolidated guidance on design, material, and construction levers ready for project execution.
