Assignment Details

Our client, a global leader in Energy Management and Automation, is seeking a skilled CAD Automation Engineer with expertise in Creo, 2D drafting, and software-driven automation to streamline and optimize the tool design process.

This role focuses on automating the generation of 2D drawings from 3D tool designs, significantly reducing manual effort and improving efficiency. The objective is to minimize non-value-added (NVA) activities in drafting by enabling a seamless transition from 3D design to production-ready 2D drawings.


Project Context
In the current tool design workflow, expert designers create 3D tool designs using Creo 4, followed by extensive manual effort (approximately 60–70 hours) to generate detailed 2D drawings for manufacturing release. The goal of this role is to automate the 2D drafting and detailing process, ensuring that once the 3D design is completed, accurate and release-ready 2D drawings are generated automatically with minimal manual intervention.


Key Responsibilities
Develop solutions to automate the conversion of 3D tool designs into 2D drawings within Creo or integrated systems.
Build and implement automation frameworks using Python or other programming languages to streamline drafting workflows.
Design and optimize algorithms to extract, interpret, and translate 3D design data into 2D drafting outputs.
Integrate CAD tools (Creo) with automation scripts or external systems to enable end-to-end drafting automation.
Reduce manual intervention and improve turnaround time in 2D detailing and drawing release processes.
Ensure generated 2D drawings are accurate, standardized, and compliant with manufacturing requirements.
Collaborate with design engineers to understand current workflows and identify automation opportunities and process improvements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and scalability of design processes.
Document automation processes, workflows, and best practices for long-term sustainability.

Skills Required

Strong hands-on experience with Creo (preferably Creo 4 or above).
Solid understanding of 2D drafting and detailing standards in a manufacturing/tool design environment.
Experience in CAD automation and linking 2D and 3D design workflows.
Proficiency in programming (Python preferred) or other automation tools/languages.
Experience in developing automation scripts, macros, or plugins for CAD systems.
Strong understanding of engineering design processes and workflows.
Knowledge of algorithms and logic building for automation use cases.
Ability to identify and eliminate non-value-added (NVA) activities through process optimization.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.


Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Creo APIs, Toolkit, or CAD customization tools.
Exposure to PLM/PDM systems and integration with CAD workflows.
Experience in design process optimization or digital transformation initiatives.
Familiarity with other CAD tools and multi-CAD environments.


Nice to Have
Experience in end-to-end tool design lifecycle.
Exposure to automation frameworks or low-code/no-code tools.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and requirements.
