BBC Media Action is seeking consultants with academic experience of undertaking systematic literature reviews of an international standard, and with experience of the digital development domain
The objectives of the literature review will be to provide a starting point for project researchers beginning to study the drivers of digital adoption among Women’s Empowerment Collectives (WECs) and their wider structures. It will also provide a starting point for landscaping studies to ensure no duplication of effort. It will summarize and compare existing research, highlight key findings and identify inconsistencies, gaps and contradictions. The literature review will focus on the drivers, barriers and accelerators of digital adoption. It will also consider the level of scale achieved, the sustainability of interventions, pain points and gaps. It will build on IFMR’s research and on the GSMA Connected Women Programmer's research on triggering mobile internet usage among men and women in India.The literature review will cover the following topics, focusing on (but not limited to) the following digital interventions for WECs and WEE (Women Economic Empowerment):
o Gender empowerment
o Health
o Digital literacy
o Digital learning for WECs and their wider structures
o Digital interventions to increase access to entitlements:
o Digital interventions to expand market access
o Digital interventions for financial inclusion
o Digital interventions to strengthen livelihoods –
o Digital interventions to strengthen group interactions and disseminate information
o Digital skills development and labor rights initiatives
o Government services for citizens
1. Prior academic experience of undertaking systematic literature reviews.
2. Prior experience in the digital development domain.
3. Ability to think critically.
