Assignment Details

BBC Media Action has received a three-year research and learning grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to identify how digital technology can strengthen Women’s Empowerment Collectives (WECs) in India, and pathways to women’s empowerment in these WECs. As part of this program of work, BBC Media Action is seeking an independent consultant to conduct a landscaping study of the efficacy of initiatives to improve digital literacy among low income women in developing countries, with a focus on India.
The study will consist of a literature review and key informant interviews. We are seeking applicants with experience of the digital development domain in India, particularly of digital solutions for low income and low literate women in India. Applicants must also have experience of conducting world class literature reviews for publication in international peer reviewed journals and of qualitative research.

In India BBC Media Action, has been using media and communications to improve health, resilience and rights since 1999. We are currently implementing major projects across India to improve maternal and child health, improve gender norms among adolescents and address sanitation behaviours.
