Assignment Details

Mobile data traffic is growing rapidly with mobile data traffic growing almost 4,000 fold over the past 10 years. This puts immense pressure on the current wireless networks that are not built to withstand this level of user demand and we are increasingly seeing that wired networks with fibre at the core is the way to go.

We have taken upon ourselves to challenge the legacy of manufacturing fibre with the aim to drastically reduce the cost. Hence, we are looking for a Senior Optical fibre manufacturing expert who can help us improve and innovate the optical fibre manufacturing process to drastically reduce its cost.

Some key activities would include:
• Suggest ways to reduce costs by changing the manufacturing paradigm in material conversion using approaches from other industries
• Explore disruptive methods with respect to sourcing and manufacturing
• Explore disruptive optical compositions with consideration of profiling, power distribution etc.
• Provide insights with respect to the limits of fibre construction
• Suggest insights to achieve disruptive savings in energy consumption and on fixed costs

Skills Required

• Core experience in Optical Fibre (OF) space but not limited to Optical Fibre Cable (OFC)
• Experience developing solutions and managing change in a fast paced manufacturing environment
• Experience of leading innovation initiatives related to Optical Fibre manufacturing would be a huge plus
• Expert in technical and organisational troubleshooting to root cause
• Strong project management skills
