---Evaluation of Family Healthcare Program--

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) have been funding one of the largest health programs in India for more than half a decade - the Ananya program. Operating across 38 districts in Bihar with the primary goal of improving family health outcomes state-wide. SU has been contracted to undertake and coordinate the overall work in co creation with internal faculty, partners such as George Washington University (GWU) and Indian partners.
The evaluation research work will employ a mixed quantitative and qualitative methods approach to analyze existing data sets, dialogue with implementers and evaluators, and share the knowledge and data gained from the Ananya program. Stanford University in partnership with the Indian based project evaluation team will conduct this analysis to disseminate learning from Ananya to inform the scale-up of national and global family health (Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition, RMNCHN) interventions.
The Advisor will work alongside the Project Manager to advise on all India based activities, under the overall guidance of the Stanford and GWU teams. The project would primarily involve:
1. Hypothesis Establishment – Working with SU and GWU team and stakeholders to devise initial hypothesis and test in workshops
2. Field Study Design Finalisation & IRB confirmation - research protocol and field guidelines; secure data acquisition, storage, and sharing systems; IRB approval; piloting the qualitative data collection methods
3. Data Gathering Collecting (in local languages or in English) qualitative data in the field
4. Data Analysis- Translating, transcribing, and analyzing the qualitative data; Develop a series of conclusions configurations
5. Triangulation and Results Finalisation- Triangulate plausible patterns that explain how Ananya interventions led to the observed results.
6. Report Writing- Working alongside SU and GWU team to construct policy briefs

The Advisor will also be responsible for securing local IRB approvals

Some travel to select districts in Bihar will be required to conduct primary interviews

Skills Required

1. Familiarity with family health sector in India
2. Good to have some knowledge of regions involved
3. Excellent knowledge of practical particulars of Indian health research
4. Ability to work beyond theory and contribute to pragmatic policy solutions
5. Works effectively across stakeholder groups (front line providers, academics, politicians, NGOs, policy practitioners, businesses)
