An international, nonprofit global health organization
Our client is an international, nonprofit global health organisation and are looking to engage with an Microbiologist who can help develop diagnostic protocols for diagnosis of new and emerging diseases of one health.
Key Responsibilities :-
i. Assist to NCDC in streamlining of LIMS, to create Lab referral network in
States/Districts.
ii. Develop diagnostic protocols for diagnosis of new and emerging diseases
of one health.
iii. Supervising, monitoring, and training State/District microbiologist.
iv. Guide microbiologist/technicians for laboratory investigations of diseases
of public health importance.
v. Supervise through onsite visits and provide technical support to for
strengthening the Public Health functions of District Laboratories.
vi. Supervise the referral lab network in states/UTs.
vii. Ensure timely submission by DSUs/SSUs of weekly reports on laboratory
tests carried out in priority district laboratories to CSU.
viii. To increase the L form reporting units in states for disease surveillance by
coordinating with epidemiologists.
ix. Ensure implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, Bio Waste
Management and Biosafety guidelines and implementation of Internal
Quality control and participation in External Quality Assessment Scheme
(EQAS) in laboratories.
x. Participate in epidemic investigation as member of Rapid Response team
(RRT) as and when required and provide support for sample collection
and transport of specimens.
xi. Regular monitoring of the functioning of District Public Health laboratories
and state referral lab network under NCDC.
xii. Quarterly performance report to be prepared
xiii. Work shall include frequent travel to assigned states.
xiv. To assist in strengthening the institutional capacity of NCDC and its
branches.
xv. Strengthening of IHIP platform and integration of data of One Health,
LIMS, and Climate Change surveillance platforms with IHIP to facilitate
the data analysis.
xvi. To support operationalization and integration of LIMS with IHIP.
xvii. To facilitate NCDC to become a Regional Hub for Genomic surveillance
in the South Asian region by strengthening the capacity of Genomic
surveillance systems under IDSP.
xviii. Formulate a consultative joint stakeholder driven policy for One health
and assist in strengthening of One Health surveillance mechanism.
- Experience as M.D. in Microbiology with experience in Molecular Diagnostic techniques with 2-year experience after MD degree OR Master’s degree (MSc / MVSc./ MD).
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, ability to work in a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross cultural communication skills.
- Excellent networking and stakeholder management skills, and a good network of contacts with key stakeholders.
