This is a unique opportunity to be a key team member in driving transformational change in resource project design, construction and operation.
The independent consultant would be supervised and coached by an ex McKinsey Partner. The consultant will be working alongside very technical and experienced engineers, however the client specifically wants someone not like the rest of the team. The client is looking for a smart, dynamic, pragmatic, transformational thinker who thrives on pushing executable solutions.
An Australian mining company is looking for a consultant to be part of a small but high powered team that works alongside the feasibility study team to challenge conventional thinking and enable a step change in value.
There will be 3 core initiatives in parallel - Fast Construction, Post-Construction Workforce and Optimizing energy. This project deals with the Fast Track Construction initiative.
The focus of the initiative is to fast-track the construction of the new mine and reduce the schedule of construction by 25% without reducing scope or compromising quality.
Expected solution involves a detailed schedule for every day for every major piece of equipment (vessels, cranes, trucks, concrete-pouring equipment) and every human being on the construction site.
The schedule is then to be followed with great discipline. This type of solution will involve IR negotiations but that expertise can come from a different source. What we need is an individual who can think through the process of creating such a detailed schedule and ensure that the schedule can be followed if the behaviours and supporting systems are in place.
Safety is of critical importance in this piece. The expectation is that disciplined execution of the schedule as specified will greatly reduce the exposure of people to danger.
The consultant may deliver the project remotely however at least two trips to Perth, Australia will be required. The duration of the project is 3-6 months and will require 50-100% capacity during the period.
• Capability to challenge conventional thinking
• Solid experience in executing change management projects
• An engineering degree from a premier institute
• 6-7 years of consulting experience at a top tier firm or a leading MNC
