Assignment Details

Ark is an international non-profit organisation which works in the fields of health, education and child protection. It runs a network of 31 schools in the UK and a number of education programmes in India.

We are planning to open our first Ark primary school in Delhi this year. The school will be run in partnership with the government under a new category of education provision; a school, independently operated by a private provider with some autonomy granted in employing and managing staff and delivering the curriculum.

We have outlined the key terms, conditions and benefits which our schools programme staff, both teachers and non-teachers, will be entitled to. However we require support in drafting these terms into a full suite of HR policies. Our HR policies will need to fulfill two functions. First they will need to comply with Indian employment law and good practice, and match some elements of Indian government teachers' terms and conditions. Second and equally important they should reflect our organisational aims and values, clearly laying out the high expectations we have of staff and helping underpin a strong, positive working culture which will deliver an outstanding education to disadvantaged children.

We will stipulate the exact list of policies required to the consultant. We would require the first draft of the policies to be completed by 18 May.

Skills Required

Knowledge of India employment law essential, ideally with knowledge of HR policy and effective practice in education specifically.
